Asus ROG Xbox Ally releases August with high price, according to leaks

The Asus ROG Xbox Ally, a handheld gaming device that pairs Asus hardware with Microsoft branding, is set to be unveiled at Gamescom 2025. According to leaks, the device will be available for pre-order on August 20th, with the base model priced at €599 (around $690 USD) and the more powerful "X" variant priced at €899 (around $1,030 USD). The ROG Xbox Ally is Microsoft's attempt to counter the Steam Deck in the growing handheld gaming PC market, as well as to expand the Xbox brand beyond consoles and leverage the Game Pass subscription service. While the device will run Windows 11, Microsoft is not heavily advertising this fact, instead focusing on the custom interface and performance tweaks that will be available on the device and other Windows-based handhelds starting in 2026. The pricing of the ROG Xbox Ally puts it in the same range as other Windows-based portable gaming PCs, but considerably more expensive than the older Steam Deck. The ROG Xbox Ally X, in particular, would be the most expensive Xbox console to date, despite not being a traditional console.
