Wildfire smoke will kill nearly 1.4m each year by end of century if emissions not curbed – study

According to a new study, wildfire smoke is expected to cause a significant increase in annual deaths worldwide by the end of the century if greenhouse gas emissions are not reduced. The research found that wildfire smoke could kill as many as 1.4 million people globally each year by 2100. The findings highlight the urgent need to address climate change and its impact on the frequency and severity of wildfires, which can have devastating consequences for public health.
