Two men appear in court over fatal Newport crash

Two men have appeared in court charged with murder after a crash involving a BMW and a motorbike last week. Emergency services were called to the incident in Aberthaw Road, Newport, in the early hours of Thursday. Jaydon Jack Eric Bowyer, 19, and Ta-Shay Carlton Canoville, 16, the driver and pillion passenger of the motorbike, were pronounced dead at the scene. On Monday, Terell Case, 18, of Sandpiper Way, Duffryn, Newport, and Joshua Williams, 34, of no fixed abode, appeared at Newport Magistrates' Court charged with murder. They will both appear at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday. Members of Bowyer and Canoville's families were in court for the hearing. Det Supt Steven Maloney said: "Both Jaydon and Ta-Shay's families are being supported by specialist officers and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time. "We would like to thank the community for their support while we continue to investigate fully the circumstances of these tragic deaths." He said residents would likely see an increased number of officers in the area in the coming days as investigations continue.
