YouTube’s AI ‘likeness detection’ tool is searching for deepfakes of popular creators

YouTube has introduced a new AI-based "likeness detection" tool that allows creators in the YouTube Partner Program to identify and report unauthorized uploads using their likeness. The feature works similarly to YouTube's Content ID system, which detects copyrighted audio and video content. Creators can verify their identity and review flagged videos in the Content Detection tab on YouTube Studio. If a video appears to be unauthorized, AI-generated content, creators can submit a request for it to be removed. The feature is currently in development and may display the creator's actual content as well. YouTube is rolling out the tool to more creators over the next few months and is part of the platform's efforts to address the growing use of AI video generation and editing tools.
