Two hours of exercise a week reduces joint pain and visits to GP

According to a recent study, people with joint pain (hip, knee, or back) who exercise for two hours per week experience significant health benefits. The study analyzed data from 40,000 individuals across the UK who participated in a 12-week program consisting of two one-hour exercise classes per week. The key findings are: 1. Participants had, on average, 35% less pain. 2. They visited their general practitioner (GP) 29% less often. 3. They took almost half as many sick days from work. 4. They needed their family to provide care 21% less. The study highlights the positive impact of regular exercise on reducing joint pain and its associated healthcare and economic costs. The findings suggest that promoting physical activity among individuals with joint pain could have substantial benefits for both individual well-being and the broader UK economy, potentially saving up to £34 billion.
