Massive landslides and catastrophic flash floods have wreaked havoc at the Nepal-China border, destroying houses, wiping out bridges and killing more than 1,200 people. More than 4,500 people remain unaccounted for in Nepal and China after last week’s disastrous flooding, and among them are roughly 940 workers at various hydropower projects that run along the Trishuli River, according to Nepal’s Independent Power Producers’ Association (IPPAN). Video footage and satellite imagery shows the immense scale of the disaster in some of the areas hit hardest by the floods. — CNN’s Thomas Bordeaux and Teele Rebane contributed to this report © 2026 Cable News Network.
