Microsoft tests on-the-fly AI audio translations for videos in Edge

Microsoft is testing a new AI-powered feature in its Edge browser that allows for real-time translation of video clips. The feature can produce both subtitles and audio translations. However, it requires a powerful computer with at least 12GB of RAM and a quad-core CPU to function effectively. The translation is mostly live, but the quality is not yet perfect. The AI-generated audio can sometimes switch between male and female voices when the tone of voice changes. Additionally, the language support is currently limited to only English, Spanish, and Korean, with plans to add more languages in the future. Despite these limitations, the introduction of this feature in the latest beta version of Microsoft Edge demonstrates the company's efforts to leverage AI technology to enhance the user experience. As the feature continues to be developed and refined, it may become a valuable tool for those who consume video content in multiple languages.
