Inside the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme’s memory mystery

Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme Arm processor supports an optional on-package memory feature, which was demonstrated during the Snapdragon Summit. The device shown had 48GB of embedded memory, but Qualcomm's Kedar Kondap clarified that this was an arbitrary amount chosen for performance testing, and PC makers will have the flexibility to configure the memory size as per their requirements, ranging from 24GB to 48GB or more. The standard Snapdragon X2 Elite chips, however, do not have this on-package memory option. Kondap also mentioned that the memory can be configured between system RAM and VRAM as needed. Overall, the on-package memory feature of the Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme is a configurable option for PC makers, but it may not be a widely visible feature for consumers.
