Snap is bringing shopping features to its AR glasses

Snap is preparing to launch its first consumer-ready AR glasses, called Specs, next year. The company is expanding the capabilities of these glasses, including introducing new features that will allow users to make purchases directly through their glasses. Snap is providing developers with tools, called Commerce Kit, to enable in-lens commerce for either digital goods or premium features. This is part of Snap's effort to monetize its AR platform and create sustainable business opportunities for developers. While Snap has previously released two versions of its standalone AR glasses, these were aimed at developers rather than consumers. The upcoming version of Specs is expected to be more lightweight and consumer-friendly. Snap is also working on integrating AR features from various partners, such as Tripadvisor and Figma, to enhance the user experience on the Specs platform.
