Microsoft adds a new ability to Xbox controllers in Windows 11

Microsoft is testing a new feature in Windows 11 that enhances the functionality of Xbox controllers. The update changes the behavior of the Xbox button on the controller. Holding the button will now open the Windows Task View, making it easier to switch between apps and games. A short press of the button will still open the Game Bar, while a longer press will turn off the controller. This new feature is currently being tested in the Windows 11 Insider build on the Dev Channel and is expected to be released to all Windows 11 users in the coming months, once it has been thoroughly tested. The change is believed to be related to Microsoft's push into the handheld gaming PC market, with the upcoming Asus ROG Xbox Ally models getting a dedicated activity window. However, it is unclear whether the same interface will be implemented on all Windows 11 computers.
