Anthropic’s Claude AI chatbot can now create and edit Office files

Anthropic, an AI company, has announced a new feature for its Claude AI chatbot that allows users to create and edit Office files directly within the chat interface. Previously, Claude only offered basic file support, but the latest update has expanded its capabilities to include the generation of Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and PDFs. The new feature is powered by a private computing environment, enabling Claude to write code and run programs to produce these files. Anthropic describes the chatbot as becoming an "active collaborator," handling the technical aspects while the user provides the context and strategy. The file creation and editing feature is currently in preview and is available to users with a Max, Team, or Enterprise subscription. Pro users will gain access within the next few weeks, while Free users will have to wait longer.
