Apple is the new home for F1 racing in the US starting in 2026

Apple has secured an exclusive five-year deal for the US broadcast rights to Formula 1 racing, starting in 2026. Under the agreement, every F1 race, practice, qualifying, and sprint session will be available on Apple TV. Non-subscribers can watch select races for free. Apple will also bring F1-related features to its other apps, including News, Music, Maps, and Fitness+. The deal diversifies Apple's sports offerings, which already include a long-term pact with MLS. However, the future of baseball on Apple TV is uncertain, with reports suggesting the company may cut ties with MLB. Apple is reportedly paying between $120 million and $150 million per year for the F1 rights, significantly more than the $90 million per year ESPN was paying. The move may be an attempt to capitalize on the success of Apple's F1 the Movie project.
