The stage is still shrouded in darkness when a keyboardist opens with a single, solemn note. The musician holds the note, steadily increasing its volume, as onlookers rise from their seats to surge forward. The auditorium then explodes with a barrage of lights and sounds. Four singers sprint to the foot of the stage, pumping their fists. The band joins them, unleashing a torrent of thunderous drums and scratchy guitar riffs that sound like an arena-rock anthem. âCâmon! Anyone grateful tonight?â the lead singer bellows as white, red and amber stage lights flicker behind him. Several thousand fans roar in response and join him in a hymn of gratitude by following the songâs lyrics displayed on two screens flanking the stage.
