TiVo has discontinued its DVR boxes

TiVo, the pioneer of the digital video recorder (DVR), has discontinued the sale of its set-top boxes, marking the end of an era in television viewing. The company confirmed that it stopped selling its physical DVR products on October 1, 2022, as its remaining inventory has been depleted. TiVo will continue to offer customer support for the discontinued boxes, including for those who have purchased a lifetime plan. The TiVo box revolutionized television by allowing viewers to pause, rewind, and record live TV, providing a more convenient and flexible viewing experience. However, the company has shifted its focus to software, producing the TiVo OS for the European market since 2022 and recently launching it in the US via Sharp Smart TVs. While the physical TiVo boxes are no longer available, the company's legacy continues through its software offerings, which aim to aggregate streaming services and provide a comprehensive television experience for users.
