Apple Watch hypertension alerts cleared by FDA for new and old watches
Apple's latest watchOS 26 update will bring a new hypertension notification feature to the Apple Watch Series 9 and later, as well as the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and later. This feature has been cleared by the FDA and will use the existing optical heart sensor to analyze how a user's blood vessels respond to the heart's beats. The algorithm will review this data over a 30-day period and notify users if it detects signs of high blood pressure. The new hypertension notifications will be available in over 150 countries and regions starting September 15th, when the watchOS 26 update is released.
