Gemini in Chrome no longer requires a subscription

Google has made Gemini, its AI assistant, available to all Chrome desktop users in the US without the need for a subscription. Gemini can now work across multiple tabs, access browsing history, and integrate with other Google services like Calendar, YouTube, and Maps. The latest version of Gemini also includes enhanced protection features, such as detecting fake viruses or giveaways, and making it easier to update compromised credentials. In the coming months, Google plans to add agentic capabilities to Gemini, allowing it to complete tasks for users, such as grocery shopping. While this is an experimental feature, Google aims to improve the user experience and avoid potential issues. Additionally, Google has added a shortcut to access its AI chatbot, AI Mode, directly from the Chrome address bar.
