Microsoft is trying to make 'vibe working' a thing
Microsoft is introducing "vibe working," an AI-driven workflow that allows users to collaborate with AI assistants like Office Agent and Copilot within Microsoft Office applications. The company claims this approach, powered by OpenAI and Anthropic models, will make the full power of tools like Excel and Word more accessible to users. However, the accuracy rates of the AI-assisted features are not entirely convincing, with the Copilot Agent Mode in Excel achieving 57.2% accuracy compared to a 71.3% human score. Microsoft acknowledges the uncertainties surrounding the benefits and drawbacks of AI in the workplace, but remains committed to promoting this "new pattern of work for human-agent collaboration." The Agent Mode tool is currently available in the web-based versions of Word and Excel, with PowerPoint support coming soon. Microsoft's Frontier program is providing early access to these AI-powered features, as the company aims to make "vibe working" a mainstream concept in the workplace.
