Bishopâs resignation comes less than a year after the exit of ANUâs vice-chancellor, Prof Genevieve Bell, and continues a tumultuous three years for the institution marred by redundancies, proposed course closures and allegations of a toxic work culture. Independent senator David Pocock said Bishopâs resignation was âin the best interestsâ of the university, while the finance minister, Katy Gallagher, said the embattled institution would need to continue ârebuilding trust and confidenceâ. ANU remains under scrutiny, with the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) reviewing its governance, financial sustainability and institutional culture.
