Proton Mail's redesigned mobile app is built for speed

Proton Mail, the privacy-focused email service, has rolled out redesigned mobile apps for Android and iOS. The updated apps, built from the ground up, promise a "cleaner, faster, and more private experience." The new Proton Mail allows users to scroll, archive, and reply twice as fast as before, and also supports an offline mode for reading, writing, and organizing messages without an internet connection. The interface has been redesigned for simpler navigation, with key features like the composer button now more easily accessible. The iOS and Android apps now share 80% of their codebase, enabling faster development and more synchronized updates across platforms. Proton credits the app updates to feedback from its community and its business model, which does not rely on monetizing user data. Alongside the Proton Mail updates, the company is also working on an overhaul of Proton Calendar and has recently launched an ethical AI assistant called Lumo.
