Gemini's new Guided Learning mode can quiz students and create interactive study aids

Google is updating its AI assistant Gemini with a new feature called Guided Learning, which aims to enhance the educational experience. Guided Learning breaks down problems into step-by-step instructions, follow-up questions, and interactive examples, rather than simply providing answers. This feature, powered by Google's LearnLM models, is designed to promote understanding and engage users in a more interactive learning process. Additionally, Google is offering a free one-year subscription to its AI Pro plan for college students in the US, Japan, Indonesia, Korea, and Brazil. This subscription unlocks access to Gemini across Google Workspace apps, increases file upload limits, and includes 2TB of storage, normally costing $200 per year. Google is also investing $1 billion in funding over three years to support American education, covering research, cloud computing resources, and AI literacy courses. This move aims to help non-profit universities adapt to a student population increasingly reliant on AI, while also serving as a marketing strategy to attract more users to Google's AI ecosystem.
