Roland just released a follow-up to its most famous drum machines from the 1980s

Roland, the renowned audio equipment manufacturer, has recently released the TR-1000, a follow-up to its iconic TR-808 and TR-909 drum machines from the 1980s. These legendary machines were widely used by artists across various genres, including New Order, Marvin Gaye, Whitney Houston, and Beastie Boys, and their influence has continued to this day with artists like Daft Punk, Outkast, and Bjork. The TR-1000 aims to blend the analog grit of the original machines with modern digital features. It includes true analog voices, digital sampling technology, and a re-designed engine from the original 808 and 909 models. The drum machine also features a new sequencer, over 2,000 pre-installed factory samples, and 46GB of internal storage, along with numerous effects and connection ports. However, the TR-1000 comes with a hefty price tag of $2,700, which may make it inaccessible to some musicians and producers. Nevertheless, the company has worked closely with "creators across scenes and geographies" to ensure the machine meets the needs of today's most innovative producers.
