MSI charges into the EV market with its new ‘EV Life’ lineup

MSI, known for its computer hardware, has expanded into the electric vehicle (EV) market by launching its "EV Life" lineup of Level 2 home chargers. The lineup includes four "EV Life" and four "EV Life Plus" chargers, ranging in price from $449.99 to $599.99. The chargers support both the Type 1 (SAE J1772) and NACS connectors, catering to a wide range of EVs. The key difference between the two series is the connectivity. The basic "EV Life" chargers use Bluetooth and a mobile app for charge management, while the "EV Life Plus" models offer Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity. All chargers are rated for up to 14.4kW of power, delivering 43 to 59 miles of charging range per hour. They are also ruggedized to withstand harsh weather conditions, with IP55 and IP67 water and dust resistance, and can operate in temperatures ranging from -40°F to 131°F. MSI's entry into the EV charger market is a strategic move to diversify its business beyond traditional computer hardware. The company's chargers are UL- and Energy Star-compliant, and come with a five-year warranty, providing customers with a reliable and feature-rich charging solution for their electric vehicles.
