Nintendo’s Switch 2 doubles first-month sales of the original
Nintendo's Switch 2 console has experienced a remarkable sales performance, with 5.82 million units sold in its first month, more than double the 2.7 million units sold by the original Switch in the same timeframe. This strong demand has driven a 132% surge in Nintendo's quarterly revenue, reaching ¥572.3 billion (around $3.8 billion) between April and June. Despite uncertainties, such as the recent tariffs on goods from Vietnam where the Switch 2 is produced, Nintendo remains confident in its ability to meet its target of 15 million Switch 2 sales by the end of the 2026 fiscal year. The Switch 2's success has made it the fastest-selling game console of all time, while the original Switch continues to perform well, with lifetime sales now reaching 153.1 million units, inching closer to the Nintendo DS's record of 154.02 million units.
