Google Discover is going to start showing social media posts and YouTube Shorts

Google's Discover content feed is set to undergo some significant changes in the coming weeks. The platform will now incorporate social media posts from platforms like Instagram and X, as well as YouTube Shorts, in addition to the existing web articles. The company states that this decision was made based on user feedback, with people expressing a preference for a more diverse content mix on the Discover platform. Alongside this update, Google is also introducing new customization features for Discover. Users will be able to follow specific creators or publishers to see more of their content, and they can preview social posts and articles before making a decision. These changes are part of Google's ongoing efforts to enhance the Discover experience, which has recently seen the introduction of AI-generated summaries and a tool that automatically creates podcasts based on the feed.
