Kermit Gosnell, a Philadelphia doctor found guilty in 2013 of murdering three babies born alive in an abortion clinic, has died at the age of 85. Pennsylvania Department of Corrections spokesperson Maria Bivens told The Associated Press that Gosnell died March 1 at a hospital outside the prison system. He had most recently been incarcerated at the State Correctional Institution-Smithfield, about 60 miles south of Pittsburgh. A cause of death was not disclosed. Gosnell's grimy West Philadelphia clinic became known as the "house of horrors." He was serving multiple life sentences at the time of his death.
