Uber Eats is offering grocery discounts to combat ‘veggie-flation’

Uber Eats is launching a new discount program called "Fresh Days" to combat rising produce prices, known as "veggie-flation." The program will offer customers in the US, Canada, UK, and several other countries discounts of up to 50% on local fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy. The exact discount amount and day will vary by market. Uber is offering the steepest discounts to its Uber One subscribers, with an example of a 30% discount on select fresh produce, meats, dairy, and eggs every Tuesday in the US. The move comes as grocery customers are facing sticker shock, with fresh fruits and vegetables up 2.3% year-over-year. Farmers and growers are also experiencing increasing production costs, with the USDA estimating a 2.6% increase in 2025 compared to the previous year. Uber's new program aims to provide some relief to consumers during this period of "veggie-flation." Additionally, Uber Eats is rolling out other updates, including an AI-powered replacement suggestion tool and a freshness guarantee.
