Microsoft is reportedly moving its Surface manufacturing out of China

Microsoft is reportedly planning to move the manufacturing of its Surface laptops, tablets, and data center servers out of China by 2026 at the earliest. This move is driven by the growing trade tensions between the US and China, with the US threatening additional tariffs and export controls on software. The report suggests that Microsoft has already started shifting some of its existing server production outside of China and is also pushing to produce more Xbox consoles outside the country. This decision is not limited to Microsoft, as other tech companies, such as Apple, are also exploring options to shift their manufacturing operations away from China. Apple is reportedly preparing to manufacture a series of new devices, including a smart home display hub, indoor security cameras, and a more advanced tabletop robot, in Vietnam, in an effort to diversify its supply chain.
