David Zaslav thinks HBO Max is ‘way underpriced’

David Zaslav, the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, believes that HBO Max is "way underpriced" and has the potential to command a higher price. Speaking at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia and Technology Conference, Zaslav argued that the premium quality of the company's content across motion pictures, television production, and streaming justifies a price increase. Currently, HBO Max's basic plan starts at $9.99 per month, with a premium plan costing $20.99 per month, which is in line with its competitors. However, Zaslav believes that the platform's quality offerings can warrant a higher price point. Additionally, Zaslav stated that HBO Max will become more aggressive in addressing the issue of password sharing, which was previously mentioned during the company's earnings call last month. This move is expected to be implemented in September.
