The largest illegal sports streaming service has been shut down after sting operation
The largest illegal sports streaming platform, Streameast, has been shut down after a year-long investigation by the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE), a US-based anti-piracy group. Streameast offered free access to 80 unauthorized domains, allowing users to pirate live soccer matches from the Premier League and Champions League, as well as NFL, NBA, and MLB games. The sting operation, conducted in cooperation with Egyptian law enforcement, resulted in the arrest of two men in Sheikh Zayed City, part of the Greater Cairo urban area. Laptops and smartphones were seized, and investigators discovered links between Streameast and a shell company in the UAE allegedly used to launder more than $6 million in advertising revenue over the last 15 years. While Streameast's original domain is no longer active, ACE is aware of potential copycat sites and is currently investigating whether they are related to the defunct platform.
