Elon Musk’s xAI is suing OpenAI and Apple

Elon Musk's companies, X Corp. and xAI, have filed a lawsuit against Apple and OpenAI, alleging that their partnership to integrate ChatGPT into the iPhone is stifling competition in the AI industry. The lawsuit claims that Apple is "deprioritizing" rival chatbots and "super" apps, including Grok and X, and forcing users to use ChatGPT as the default chatbot app. It also accuses Apple's partnership with OpenAI of creating a "moat" that protects the AI giant due to Apple's smartphone market dominance, giving OpenAI access to potentially billions of user prompts. X and xAI argue that this harms their ability to compete in the AI market. OpenAI has dismissed the lawsuit as "consistent with Mr Musk's ongoing pattern of harassment," while Apple has stated that its App Store is "designed to be fair and free of bias."
