Rimac introduces its take on solid-state batteries for electric vehicles
Rimac Technology has unveiled a new battery pack platform for electric vehicles (EVs) that uses only solid-state batteries. The company collaborated with ProLogium and Mitsubishi Chemical Group on the product, which it claims will offer a lighter, safer, and more energy-dense EV battery. Rimac introduced this technology, along with new composite and hybrid battery EV developments, at the IAA Mobility 2025 event. Solid-state batteries are being touted as an important new development for EVs, with the potential to improve efficiency and reduce costs. However, the commercial development of this technology has been slow, and major automakers like Nissan have not yet released EVs solely powered by solid-state batteries, with targets for doing so still several years away. Rimac did not provide a timeline for when its new battery tech might be available to customers.
