FBC: Firebreak Had "Weak Sales" Despite Turnaround, Says Remedy

Remedy's self-published game FBC: Firebreak has experienced weak sales, resulting in a significant write-down of €14.9 million, or approximately $17,234,085, which amounts to "a majority of the game's capitalized development costs." The game had a disappointing launch, with a peak of only 1,992 players on the first day, which has since dropped to less than 100 concurrent players per day. Remedy acknowledged that players were unhappy with the first hour of the game and promised to address the issues with a future update. The Breakpoint update, released at the end of September, aimed to improve the player experience, but it has not yet met the company's "internal targets," despite earning "improved player and sales metrics." Remedy is currently focusing on other projects, including Control 2 and a Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake in collaboration with Rockstar Games. The company's upcoming financial report on October 29 may provide more details about these upcoming titles.
