Call of Duty is getting the movie treatment, courtesy of Paramount
Paramount has signed a deal with Microsoft and Activision to develop a live-action feature film based on the iconic Call of Duty franchise. The details of the deal, including the valuation, are not yet known. The film will be developed, produced, and distributed by Paramount, but there is no information available about the cast, creative team, or which specific game or era the film will be based on. The deal is seen as the potential start of a larger Call of Duty cinematic universe, as industry sources indicate there are plans to expand the franchise to more movies and TV shows. Paramount has been on an acquisition and expansion spree recently, completing an $8 billion merger with Skydance and shelling out over $7.7 billion for exclusive rights to UFC events for the next seven years. The company plans to double its yearly theatrical output to 20 films annually.
