Overwatch 2 will overhaul its progression systems to show more visual flair in matches

Overwatch 2 is set to introduce a major overhaul to its progression system in Season 18. The new "Progression 2.0" system will offer more visual flair in matches, with players unlocking increasingly fancy portrait frames and hero badges as they level up. The Hero Select screen will also display a card showing a player's top heroes, which could help in building team compositions. Blizzard has emphasized that this information will only be visible to allies, not opponents, to prevent it from being used against players. The progression menu will also be revamped, making it easier to track and equip unlocked rewards. Additionally, players will receive occasional Epic and Legendary loot box freebies as they progress. The new season, which begins on August 26, will also bring a new support hero, Wuyang, and a new option for keyboard and mouse controls on console.
