Canon's tiny C50 cinema camera can shoot widescreen and vertical video simultaneously

Canon has announced the EOS C50, its smallest cinema camera yet, designed to appeal to both social media creators and professional filmmakers. The camera features a full-frame CMOS sensor that supports up to 7K 60p internal RAW recording and 32MP photo capture. Despite its compact size and lightweight of 1.5 pounds, the EOS C50 offers a range of advanced features, including a dual ISO system, Canon Log 2 support, and simultaneous crop recording for vertical video formats. The camera's unique simultaneous crop recording allows users to output 2K social media video in 9:17, 9:16, or 1:1 aspect ratios while recording 4K footage. This feature caters to creators who need to produce content for platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. The EOS C50 also includes professional-grade features like dual XLR audio inputs, a zoom rocker, and Dual Pixel autofocus with AI subject tracking. The Canon EOS C50 is priced at $3,899 and will be available towards the end of Q4 2025. The company also introduced the RF 85mm F/1.4 L VCM Hybrid Lens, designed for portrait shooting, and an updated version of the PowerShot Elph 360 HS, the Elpha 360 HS A, with a microSD slot.
