Threads posts now support 'text attachments' up to 10,000 characters

Threads, Meta's social media platform, has introduced a new feature that allows users to attach text snippets of up to 10,000 characters to their posts. This feature is aimed at supporting journalists and creators who wish to share longer content, such as excerpts from books, articles, newsletters, or podcast transcripts. The text attachment feature is relatively basic at the moment, offering a simple text editor with limited formatting options. Once published, the text attachment can be viewed in a full-screen mode on mobile or in a dedicated window on the Threads website. The feature also includes the ability to preview any linked content at the end of the text. Meta believes this feature will help boost engagement with links shared on Threads, which has seen mixed results so far. While data shows increased engagement with links, Threads is still sending little traffic to websites overall. While the 10,000-character limit allows for substantial amounts of writing to be shared directly on Threads, the feature lacks many features typically found in publishing tools. However, Meta has stated that it plans to add more functionality and creator-focused updates to the text attachment feature in the future.
