Early blogging service Typepad is shutting down for good

Typepad, an early blogging service launched in the same year as WordPress, has announced its shutdown on September 30. The service, once used by major publications, fell behind WordPress in popularity over the years. Typepad stopped accepting new signups in 2020 but continued supporting its existing customers. However, the decision to shut down the service was made recently. After September 30, users will no longer be able to access their accounts, blogs, and associated content. Users can export their content in Movable Type Import Format before the shutdown, which they can then upload to WordPress. Typepad will stop charging users for subscriptions on August 31, and prorated refunds will be issued for recent payments. The shutdown of Typepad marks the end of an era for one of the early blogging services.
