The Ivalice Chronicles team had to remake the original Final Fantasy Tactics' source code from scratch

The Square Enix team behind Final Fantasy Tactics — The Ivalice Chronicles had to rebuild the game's source code from scratch. During the original game's localization from Japanese to English, the company overwritten the original code. As a result, the team had to recreate the source code by playing the original game, consulting the master disc, and looking at the 2011 version, Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. The team also utilized fan-made databases to gather lost information. Regarding the character Count Cidolfus Orlandeau, also known as "Thunder God Cid," the team decided not to nerf the overpowered character as his role in the story is to be that powerful. Instead, they opted to buff other characters to balance the game. Looking ahead, the director hinted at the possibility of exploring sequels or new strategy RPGs, depending on the success of The Ivalice Chronicles.
