UK woman who refused cancer drugs was influenced by mother, inquest finds

Paloma Shemirani, a 23-year-old woman, died after refusing chemotherapy for non-Hodgkin lymphoma. An inquest found that she was "adversely influenced" by her conspiracy theorist mother, Kay Shemirani, in her decision to refuse the conventional treatment that doctors believed would have given her a strong chance of recovery. The coroner stated that the influence of Paloma's parents, Kay and Faramarz Shemirani, "more than minimally" contributed to her death.
