TikTok users will soon be able to send voice notes, images and videos in chats
TikTok is expanding its messaging capabilities by allowing users to send voice notes, images, and videos in direct messages and group chats. The new features will roll out in the coming weeks, with voice notes capped at one minute and users able to send up to nine images or videos. The app is also adding restrictions, such as not allowing users under 16 to send the first message and automatically detecting and blocking nudity in chats for users between 16 and 18 years old. While other messaging apps already have similar features, TikTok is catching up with the competition. The move is part of the platform's efforts to become more than just a platform for short videos.
