YouTube cracks down on Premium Family sharing with non-family users

YouTube is cracking down on the sharing of Premium accounts with non-family members. According to the company's guidelines, Premium accounts are only meant to be used by members of the same household. YouTube is now taking action against account sharing, sending emails to users who are found to be sharing their Premium benefits with people outside their household. These users have a 14-day deadline to rectify the situation, after which their Premium features will be cancelled. YouTube is using location checks with IP addresses and GPS to verify if Premium users are in the same household. The company is also targeting pricing arbitrage, where users subscribe to Premium accounts from abroad using VPNs. If users receive an email about account sharing, they can contact YouTube support to prove that all users are in the same household and prevent the account block. Otherwise, they may need to consider switching to an individual YouTube Premium Lite subscription.
