Nikon has unveiled its first cinema camera, the Nikon ZR, developed in collaboration with RED. The camera combines Nikon's advanced subject detection AF and in-body stabilization with RED's color science and video codecs. The ZR features a 24MP partially stacked sensor with a Dual Base ISO of 800/6400, promising 15+ stops of dynamic range. It can record 12K RAW 6K video at 60fps or 4K at 120fps, using RED's new R3D NE and Log3G10 formats. The camera offers 32-bit float audio recording, subject tracking autofocus, and 5-axis in-body stabilization. It comes with a large, bright 4-inch display and a lightweight 540g body. Priced at $2,200, the ZR is positioned as a more affordable alternative to models like the Canon C50 and Sony FX3, targeting content creators.
