Windows 11 gets automatic light/dark modes in next PowerToys update

Microsoft's PowerToys, an official add-on pack for Windows, is set to receive a significant update in its next version, 0.95. The highlight of this update is the inclusion of an automatic light/dark mode feature, allowing users to switch between the two modes based on a scheduled preference. The update, expected to arrive in October 2025, will also feature a revamped user interface for the Keyboard Manager tool. This feature is considered a welcome addition, as the ability to automatically shift between light and dark modes is surprisingly absent from Windows 11 and other major software programs. In the meantime, the current version, 0.94, introduces several smaller improvements, including a search bar to help users navigate the growing number of tools and settings within PowerToys, a shortcut conflict manager, and new options for the Mouse Pointer Crosshairs tool. PowerToys can be downloaded from GitHub.
